"We get to build Legos!" The kids LOVED getting to create with Legos this week. Creativity was flowing for sure!
This week we were structural engineers! We made bridges that stood one inch off of our work surface, and the "bones" had to hold a flat penny without slipping through.
We took a couple weeks off to study the Constitution, but now we're back with STEM! This week second grade students had to design a contraption that would hold an apple on top of their heads! Ally oop!
Second grade is working with apples again! This time, they are turning them into wrecking balls. This was a hard challenge, but they rose to the occasion and made a "wreck" of things!
Kindergarten learned about gravity this week. Then, they got to experiment with gravity using marbles and tracks!
Second graders used their engineering skills once again! This time they were using school supplies to make the tallest tower possible, but there was a catch. The tower had to hold an apple!
This week, first graders learned about light. They learned that light comes from a source, and light has to be present for objects to be seen. We even made ourselves glow!
First grade students explored the elements of sound. They used "cup-o-phones" to discover vibrations in sound.
Second grade students used their engineering skills to create the tallest free-standing tower possible out of 20 index cards and 12in. of masking tape. The tallest tower of the week measured 23in. tall!
Kindergarten students explored forces and motion by looking at pushes and pulls. They sorted pictures of pushes and pulls, then the went outside to use pushes and pulls on the playground equipment!
